“Authenticity is a collection of choices that we have to make every day. It’s about the choice to show up and be real. The choice to be honest. The choice to let our true selves be seen.”
― Brené BrownThe Gifts of Imperfection: Let Go of Who You Think You’re Supposed to Be and Embrace Who You Are

Being you gives others permission to also be themselves!

Every day that I am awake I realize more and more how human I am and THIS TRUTH causes me to have a need to be who I am and I am now okay with this.

I must admit that previously I was caught up with the status quo and what it dictated. Unfortunately I have had to put on a mask many times because the authentic me feels I would not be accepted otherwise. I also felt it too laborious an effort to be me.

I jump into a role that is really not who I am …perhaps because the occasion dictates it and the occasion would have it no other way. Unknowingly for a long time I played this game until it became a part of me …until I woke up one day knowing that this pretentious life was not taking me anywhere good.

When did who we are naturally  take great effort and  a backseat to the unnatural which takes away our joy (especially when we are alone).

I know this does not go for everyone….but for the person that can identify I say put away the mask, any situation that forces you to be far removed from your true reality is not worth it. You were made a specific way for a specific situation and for a specific person. If you are anything else it takes away from the mandate given to you by God. It also robs someone else of what you should be giving them.

You have to be you, anything else is a true disservice to mankind.

It takes some effort to be transparent and authentic but trust me it is worth it.

Be You!
