Have you ever stopped in your tracks with the thought “Why am I here, what am I doing?” When we do not know who we are, we find that life is not always smooth, we get anxious over simple things, we may very well suffer from depression, and we are often confused about where we are and what we are currently doing. Can you identify?
It is extremely important to know who we are in a personal and intimate way that only we can. Years ago I thought I could be a makeup artist. I did lots of different classes, I got myself certified but deep down there was this uneasiness or incompleteness whenever I was to do something makeup-related. I could not get to that place where I felt comfortable, always second-guessing myself. I mean I know the basics and could “beat” a face if I had to, after all, I have been paid for my services in the past, but that inner satisfaction was missing unlike when I am doing one of my passions which is writing.
Again, can you identify? You do the job but know you can do better at something identified as your calling.
I say all of that to say to you when you are on the right path you will know; when you are on the wrong path you will also know. To be on the right path that is perfect for you there are signs that you will need to pay attention to. Signs on the inside – It is a peaceful feeling (JOY) or a bad feeling -(similar to that feeling you got as a child when you knew you were doing something that your mother told you not to).
YOU KNOW!
Not identifying with our calling causes our judgement to be greatly skewed. It makes no sense we listen to others about what is right for us…we have to know for ourselves.
…and WE KNOW
There has to be a divine connection with that inner part of us that was placed within us to lead us to our calling, placed there by the one who knows us best – God. When we feel out of sorts we have to connect to that deeper part or we will be influenced by that which we do not feel deeply causing our choices to be skewed.
When you think about it there are no wrong paths every wrong choice is there for a reason to teach us and to build a greater awareness and accountability for our actions. Learning the lesson helps us to make better choices the next time around.
When you get that feeling that will not go away (similar to my makeup journey) then perhaps you need to delve deeper, pause, and think – why is this feeling staying with me?
Perhaps that deeper part of you is requesting your attention. Telling you to be aware of what is happening around you and pointing you in a different direction.
On another note: Sometimes our choices have led us to be in a certain place for many years, the nagging feeling is with us that we are settling, that we are not optimizing our experiences, that we are falling short of God’s intention for us. Do not hold onto a dead situation. You can change, you can begin again. I encourage you to.
