Heartbreak can lead to you feeling out of sorts. Overtime I have learned that if the feeling remains longer than it should, I need a self -check and in doing that I ask two questions:-
- Am I in tune with my creator through Prayer and reading His word?
- Am I in a state of gratitude?
Quite recently I had to deal with a heartbreak situation and of course, my first thing to do was to ask God why. He controls everything; he could have allowed the situation to be as I thought it would. I went on telling him that my motives were not skewed and surely that was enough. I think as children of God we believe that our lives should not contain disappointment but that thought process was surely corrected.
And so I asked myself the two questions and admittedly my answers were the opposite of what they should be
Well, I immediately began to pray of course and with that, I felt my mood shift from one of heartbreak to letting go of the situation. I also sought the advantages of the situation and realised that my disappointment in effect allowed someone else to experience joy. I never realised this before, moreover, life cannot always be about us. We must be prepared to facilitate others’ joy.
Beyond women understand that in every challenge, heartbreak, or disappointment there is always good, and once we recognise this we nullify the negative emotions that will come. We also gain added strength through prayer.
Gratitude & Prayer I assure you will make our lives better. Have you had to deal with anything challenging or devastating in recent times? Why not start or revisit (if you have one) your Gratitude Journal? It takes no more than a few minutes to record what you are grateful for. And it works!
TIP: Allow me to share a bit of my list that I wrote and guess what my journal is on my phone. Notes is a great tool.
- I am grateful for my family, I am not alone.
- I am grateful for the comfy bed that I’m in while I write this note to you.
- I am grateful for the money I have in my bank account.
- I am grateful for Jesus.
- I am grateful for the air I can breathe.

Here’s the truth, we cannot allow heartbreak to take over but as BeyondWomen we find the good in every situation and allow that along with prayer to transcend us into the light that exists in the same challenge, heartbreak, or disappointment. Commit this to yourself – “Nothing will hold you back! Nothing will hold you down!”
