Monday Motivation – The Value of your Dream/ I Bought my 1st Car at age 20.

Read Time: 3 minutes:

Do you believe in the value of your dreams?

I think it is time to get personal and share from the wealth of experience that I have been privileged to have gone through especially as I come across young women who have seemingly stopped believing in the supernatural.

Women who no longer believe that miracles are waiting to happen. They have stopped believing in the power (or perhaps have never believed) of dreaming and speaking with intent. And not only with intent, but, also understanding the power of our words and the choice we have of speaking life as in the bible verse found in Proverbs 18:21 …which reads “death & life are in the power of the tongue…”

It amazes me that a book written so many years ago holds valuable lessons applicable to all facets of our life today.  Do we take heed, do we scoff at the warning or do we chalk it up to fairy-tale living?

And so because I knew there are women who need to hear my story, wanting a bit of inspiration and motivation from a place that is real (which is what we aim to do here at the beyond woman) I decided to do a bit of diving into my sea of archives for this one.

The power of dreaming

Years ago, having just left high school at age 18 I started working at a location which caused me to have to take 2 buses to get to work. I can easily laugh (now) about something that was very serious back then. If while standing at the bus stop and the doors to enter the bus stopped in front of me, rest assured by the time the crowd of persons who were also waiting got done with me…

I was lucky on the numerous occasions to not have been trampled underfoot. I was very small in stature and greatly lacking the aggressive personality needed to fight my way onto the bus. Suffice to say that having this done to me every evening I decided I was going to buy my car and soon.

Our spoken words do have power

I had no savings, I was not earning enough but that did not stop me from continuing to dream and speaking out loud as often as I could to just about everyone I knew who would listen. I was soon in line for a miracle.

After spending about 4 months at this institution I received a call from another organisation I had given a resume. Without being formally interviewed I had a new job that was paying me about 5 times what I was originally getting.

I assure you that was not luck. That was my spoken word being backed by “the exponential factor of God-at-work which leads to supernatural results” Tim Smith.

Although this new job allowed me to be much closer to home (about 15 minutes) I did not give up my dream, I was more adamant than ever. After 9 months with my new employers I approached them with my ambitious stance and requested a staff loan to buy my car.

The loan was denied but that did not stop me, I took a customer loan and bought my car. I was working a pretty decent salary, having gotten a further increase; was still in my parents home. I could afford it.

With the way paved, I moved head on and it was a risk worth taking…I had no fear, no what if’s, and I did it. It paid off! I have never been without a car since then. Can I also add that I could barely drive… but that is another story. Believe in the Power of your Dreams; believe your spoken words will be backed by :

From 8 Habits of an Effective Youth Worker by Tim Smith

God will have your back! He gives us dreams and visions, why would He do that if He was not going to play a part. Believe that when you “speak” your dreams – you live it, sleep it, and eat it. The pathway is laid and your dreams will become a reality!

I do not know how that works but it does! Everything lines up and comes together for your good!
