The concept of beauty is continuously evolving, and we have a 23-year-old woman to thank for that. Though she did not win the crown, she captured the hearts of many who watched Steve Harvey correctly announce the winner, many of us would have willingly overlooked any mistakes (had he made any) this year—a reference to his infamous mistake in a previous pageant.
Social media is raving about Davina, evidenced by the many articles and comments circulating, with many stating that she should have won. Davina’s confident and poised demeanor as she proudly wore her afro was like magic and a gift to those of us with similar hair texture. She showed us that we can seriously embrace who we are and make a difference by being true to ourselves, and the universe took notice.

I won the hearts of many, I got to highlight Deaf awareness, I stand as the first afro queen to have made it thus far, I represented my little island and I received all the love one could possibly wish for….
